About Us

MOIPONE (Management of Informational Programmes on National Education) ACADEMY is an independent non-profit educational service provider in Gauteng that encourages learners to pursue science and technology careers through technical development programme and information focusing on science programmes.

Moipone in South Sotho means "Finding one self.”

Moipone Academy’s motto: Learn and Teach

Moipone Academy’s logo is a propeller, a star and pentagon (the 5 founding directors). The logo says, “The Pentagon will Propel Stars”.

Information Science Centre

Moipone Academy established science informational centre for learners to get educational material and learn about different science careers and institutions. Zitikeni Secondary school principal (Mrs Molatelo Agnes Kekana) allocating a 6 x 8 m2 stall for free, to serve as science information centre. To build the centre, LJB Transport (Joseph Taetsane) collected unused scrap furniture from the Pretoria retail and corporate stores – P’nP, Shoprites, Checkers, Spars and Simba warehouse.

Advice and Referral Centre

Moipone Academy initiated career awareness programmes - To engage the broader South African learners, students and unemployed youth by highlighting, communicating and popularizing the South African cutting edge research. The centre is also used for educational screen / video plays for learners.

Schools Outreach Programmes – Screen play

MOIPONE Academy visits 13 local secondary schools to show learners science educational videos. This programme helps us to reach learners who are unable to visit our centre. Science shows will be included as soon as possible.

Science Talks / Lecture

MOIPONE Academy invites Professionals and PhD/Masters Students from the Universities, to give talks about their special fields. Our organisation MOIPONE ACADEMY (supported by SAASTA and DST), hosted awareness campaign about Antarctica, Marine Bioscience, Astronomy and Nanotechnology, in Tembisa since 2005. The main aim of this project is to engage and focus attention on Science careers, through the skills and professional help of our South African scientists.
